Capital Credit Alliance
Credit repair is an area where consumers must be extremely careful. Dubbed by the federal government as one of the most common areas of consumer abuse, credit repair organizations offer to "clean" a credit report for a fee.
Many of these firms, whose activities are governed by The Credit Repair Organizations Act, skirt the law. Describing their activities, the federal government says "The truth is, they can't deliver". Only time and diligence to paying bills on time will reverse a negative credit report.
One company that operates in this marketspace is Capital Credit Alliance. Instead of credit repair, they offer a credit facility that is good for purchasing items directly for them.
Our customer reported that merchandise arrived weeks late and damaged. Replacement merchandise orders were reportedly cancelled without notice and orders were still pending. Our customer also reported that the company's billing has been inaccurate, causing her account to appear unpaid.
Consumer Help Web contacted senior management at Capital Credit Alliance twice during July 2004, but our letters went unanswered. Our customer was eventually referred to a local consumer attorney and given contact information for local regulatory authorities.
